Mathematics Knowledge and Skills Progression

Mathematics is taught to be necessary, purposeful and meaningful, eg using the skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in a shopping situation brings more meaning to the learning. The National Curriculum provides the basic structure for our mathematics teaching and we currently use White Rose Math. We use a variety of materials, teaching and learning styles. Children will be taught to use mental arithmetic, multiplication tables and other mathematical skills.

Mathletics

Our school have invested in a Mathletics account for every child in school, this has been used both in school and at home.

Mathletics provides a safe, encouraging learning environment that provides the right level of challenge to help your learners grow, gain confidence, and achieve their best.  Mathletics activities are relevant, reinforce lessons learned in school, and help your children gain mastery over maths topics or push ahead of what’s being taught.

Designed to provide fun and engaging maths learning, Mathletics can be easily accessed on mobiles or tablets for instant, rewarding and positive screen time.

By blending intrinsic and extrinsic motivations and rewards, and using best-practice theories of gamified learning, Mathletics keeps students engaged with maths. With fresh activities, challenges and regularly updated content, Mathletics always has something new to learn and fun to do.

There’s always something new to do and somewhere new to explore. Mathletics is continually updated with fresh learning content, meaning your children can always be excited for the next big thing to land.

Live Maths Challenges set kids around the world to challenges that will test their minds, maths skills and reflexes. Mathletics Challenges can see whole schools, classes, or individual learners go head-to-head to see whose knowledge, skill and speed is the best!

TT Rockstars

TT Rcokstars is a programme used in Sheep DIp in order to raise the profile of times tables across our academy in an exciting way.

In either paper form or online, Times Tables Rock Stars is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice.

Each week concentrates on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practised every third week or so.

This format has very successfully boosted times tables recall speed for hundreds of thousands of pupils over the last 8 years in over 14,000 schools - both primary and secondary - worldwide.

All children have been given their login details from school for Mathletics and TT Rockstars, please speak to your child's class teacher or message them on the SeeSaw app if you need any support for your child.
